St. Martins Church , Templemartin. 1797.

Named after Martin from Hungary son of a Roman soldier, Templemartin Church was built in 1797. Probably built on the site of a Celtic Church its date of consecration is not known. The tower at the west end has a plaque which reads 1718, J.Johnson, Archt, and for nine years there was no priest in charge but in 1806 Frances Carey Sullivan was appointed stipendary curate. Thomas Biggs succeeded Sullivan in 1848 and at that time the average number of communicants was 16, 11 children attended a Church Education School and the total parish number was 132. In 1879 Templemartin became united with Murragh and then in 1935 united with Brinny Church and in more recent years Templemartin became part of Moviddy Union in 1959.
